Space Marine

I found an old drawing book I did with my daughter when she was about four.

I think this is a space marine.

Joaquín's Killa Kan

seize ground

During our Christmas break, which was otherwise quite stressful, we played Warhammer 40K with Hendrik and Joaquín at Krüger’s house. It was their second tabletop game. They played Space Marines. Krüger and I played Orks.

The scenario was Seize Ground which means we played for objectives. Three, I think. Hendrik and Joaquín were not very lucky and some of their troops arrived late in the game: a terminator squad and a tactical squad in a drop pod. This was an advantage for the Orks. Nevertheless the game was undecided until the end. Then the Orks won.

What I like about playing in this group is that the focus is more on playing the game and not so much on winning or loosing. That's very relaxing. Also there is some basic trust that nobody is cheating. Unfortunately when I play with adults that's not always the case.

Fimo Killa Kan

Last weekend Joaquín made a figure out of Fimo. He says it's an Ork in a robot. A Killa Kan, I imagine.

Warhammer

playing Warhammer 40K with Krüger, Hendrik and Joaquín

On the 8th of October, coming out of our tax advisor's office, two weeks after my mother’s death, I noticed that the shop which used to be called GAMES WORKSHOP was now called WARHAMMER. I was curious, walked over to take a closer look, found out that the shop was closed and studied the painted miniatures behind the window.

A young man came over, holding a little box in his hands.

"Damn. It’s closed", he said.

"Yes", I said. "Strange."

"I was looking for somebody to play 40K with", he said.

"What army do you play?"

"Space Marines. Salamanders."

"Those are the Space Marines that live in the jungle?"

„In the jungle? I don’t know. They are all equipped with flame throwers. I have them here in my box.“

"I sometimes play 40K with a friend. He used to live in Berlin, but unfortunately he moved to Dortmund recently. Are the rules very important to you? We play the 5th edition. It was written by Alessio Cavatore. It’s my favourite."

"The new edition is very beginner-friendly. I like that."

"If you would like to play with us, please contact me. I have a blog. It’s called Herr Zinnlings Arbeitszimmer. I have some 40K battle reports on it. So you can see how we play. It’s a bit old school, though."

"Damn. I’m angry that the shop is closed. I came all the way from Aplerbeck to play 40K."

"Yes. I mean. Really. Please contact me if you want to play with us. There’s a contact form on my blog."

"Schlimmling? What kind of name is that?"

"Äh. No. Zinnling. Herr Zinnling’s Arbeitszimmer."

"But you live in Berlin?"

"Yes. But I’m in Dortmund often. My mother died two weeks ago."

"I’m reall pissed off about this. I came all the way from Aplerbeck and now the shop is closed."

Ok. This didn’t work. He probably thought I was some kind of human spam bot, lurking in front of GW shops, ähh … AoS shops, to advertise my blog.

Instead I went to Krüger’s house with my two sons and we played 40K. We had a great time. We played Space Marines vs Orks. Both sides were able to secure one objective, if I remember well, and the game ended in a tie. It was the boys' first game of 40K.

Chaos Space Marines versus Space Marines / 40K Battle Report / 1250 points

The other day I asked Krüger to bring his entire Space Marine Army and he brought: a captain, a terminator squad, a dreadnought, 2 tactical squads, a scout squad, a drop pod and a stormraven, a total of 1250 points.

stormraven

I played Chaos Space Marines: a winged daemon prince, a chaos lord with a daemon weapon, 2 units of plague marines, a rhino, 3 obliterators and a summoned greater daemon.

krüger

Being very laid back old school gamers, we used the 5th edition of 40K as a ruleset. The scenario was capture and control / dawn of war.

turn 1

My daemon prince wiped out Krüger’s scout squad in close combat.

In Krüger’s shooting phase, his dreadnought destroyed my rhino, so the chaos lord and 9 plague marines had to leave the burning vehicle. Krüger fired a twin-linked plasma cannon, 2 melters, a storm cannon, 4 storm bolters and 10 bolters at them and managed to kill 2 plague marines. Then Krüger’s terminators attacked the same unit and killed the chaos lord in close combat. None of the terminators survived. (I rolled a 6 for the daemon weapon.)

turn 2

My obliterators arrived, fired 3 lascannons at the stormraven, landed a glancing hit and immobilised the vehicle. I attacked the tactical squad of space marines next to Krüger’s objecive with my plague marines and lost another 4 of them.

Krüger’s drop pod landed close to the objective on my side and 10 space marines disembarked. Then Krüger’s stormraven shot all of his weapons at my obliterators, including 4 bloodstrike missiles, and killed 2 of them.

turn 3

Next to the objective on my side a plague champion was transformed into a greater daemon. Nevertheless only 4 of the 10 plague marines, which were supposed to guard the objective, survived close combat. Next to Krüger’s objective my winged daemon prince was able to attack and kill 3 space marines.

drop pod

In Krüger’s shooting phase, I lost my last obliterator. Damn.

turn 4

The greater daemon destroyed Krüger’s tactical squad.

In Krüger’s shooting phase, the stormraven shot down another one of my plague marines, so only one plague marine survived next to my objective. (I had already lost the other unit, but I don’t remember when. Probably in turn 3.)

turn 5

Krüger’s captain killed my winged daemon prince in close combat and what was left of his tactical squat reached the objective on his side.

space marines

Then the dreadnought shot down my last plague marine. Krüger won the battle 1:0. Grrrrrr …

Chaos Space Marines versus Space Marines and Orks / 40K Battle Report / 1500 points

On Sunday, Krüger, Jörg and I had a game of 40K. It took four hours. After two hours we had a break to eat a marble cake and to talk about coffee machines. Krüger drinks seven cups of coffee a day. As the result of our discussion Krüger now wants to buy a second coffee machine.

space marines versus chaos cultists

Jörg started with 40K not so long ago. He brought the Chaos Space Marines from the Dark Vengeance box, painted in an eerie Genestealer purple and Rakarth Flesh. I played with Jörg in a team and added about 1000 points: a Chaos Lord, 2 units of Plague Marines, a Rhino and 3 Obliterators. Krüger brought all the Orks and Space Marines he has.

ork boys

We are in the process of balancing our lists. Jörg’s part of the chaos army is a bit fragile. He has two small units of cultists, a small unit of Chosen CSMs, a Dreadnought and a Chaos Lord, whereas Krüger’s list is quite effective, the result of many years of gaming against me.

We still use the rules of the 5th edition because nobody could convince me yet that there is a better edition. The scenario was seize ground and spearhead with four objectives.

I took pictures with my dad’s old 35 mm camera and notes on a piece of paper. I don’t think it’s easy to write an entertaining battle report. Here are some inspiring blogs:

So what happened on our table? In turn 1 Jörg’s Chaos Dreadnought (Hellbrute) destroyed Krüger’s Dreadnought. (I know. It’s just dice and probabilities, but the thing has a long history of bad luck. It doesn’t work. It’s malfunctioning. Instead of buying more coffee machines, Krüger should get a new Dreadnought.)

In turn 2 Jörg lost a unit of Cultists and the Chosen Chaos Space Marines, but we were able to shoot down a Deffkopta.

In turn 3 Jörg’s Chaos Lord and one of my Plague Marine units destroyed a unit of Space Marines. Krüger attacked my obliterators with a large horde of Orks and destroyed them. I countered his attack with two units of Plague Marines, won the fight, and the two models that survived, a Warboss and a Nob, flew.

plague marines versus orks

In turn 4, Krüger’s Kommandos appeared and we lost the Chaos Dreadnought. Another unit  of Cultists that was supposed to secure an objective on our side dropped like flies.

In turn 5, Krüger held one objective on his side while the objective on our side was contested by two Killa Kans. I tried to fight them off with two units of Plague Marines.

I think we made some mistakes figuring out the dice scores needed to damage the Killa Kans, but I’m not sure if the result would have been different. I wasn’t able to destroy one Killa Kan and Krüger won the game. All in all, it was fun. Krüger’s list is almost a Dreadnought / Killa Kan spam list. Jörg and I need something to counter that. And Jörg’s CSMs need more punch.

Wargaming Weekend

Two weeks ago my cousin Sven came over to Berlin for my birthday. I'm 44 now which means I have been into tabletop and role-playing games for 30 years.

My original plan was to organise a HOTT mini-campaign for the weekend, but we played one game of Warhammer, 40K and HOTT instead.

The first game was Warhammer Fantasy on Friday night. Krüger came over and teamed up with Sven against me for a 1500 point battle. They played orcs & goblins, I played wood elves.

My list still is a bit fragile because I started to collect wood elves not so long ago. Their list included a giant, 4 trolls, a large unit of orcs, a unit of orc boar boys, 2 units of night goblins with fanatics and some goblins on spiders. A nice looking army.

wood elves versus orcs & goblins

The game felt a bit like the horrible German boardgame "Mensch ärger dich nicht". The dice and our lists determined what happened, strategic thinking didn't matter much. The worst moment was when I managed to cast "The call of the hunt" on my eternal guard, an augment spell, giving each model an extra attack, and still lost the unit in close combat that turn. The game played itself. It was a waste of time.

I'm not saying that this was anybody's fault. Actually balanced, exciting games are difficult to organise if one player brings a fragile list and the other players have a lot more models to choose from. The game was over after turn 3. (I guess I have to put some effort into making my list less fragile.)

Saturday afternoon, my cousin and I played 40K. We played the 5th edition, including some rules from the 6th edition like overwatch and rolling the charge range. Because of peer pressure half a year ago I thought I had to switch to the 6th edition, although I like the 5th edition much better. (It's a pity that Alessio Cavatore left Games Workshop.) After endless discussions my friends and I compromised on using the 5th edition as our main ruleset and including our favourite rules from other editions as house rules. This way everybody has to think what rules he really likes and why. Games are much more fun this way, I think.

So on Saturday we played a 1000 point battle. The scenario was capture + control and spearhead. Sven had brought his Tau from Munich, I played Plague Marines. Sven's Tau are one of the coolest armies I have played against. They are really well painted, with lots of stuff on the field. The game was quite exciting. It lasted for 7 turns and ended in a tie.

tau

On Sunday morning, which was my birthday, I played HOTT against my cousin. I think HOTT is my favourite game at the moment.

I played wood elves: hero (general), 4 spears, 3 shooters, 1 behemoth, 1 flyer.

Sven played goblins: warband (general), 3 warbands, 2 riders, 2 beasts, 1 behemoth, 1 hero.

I was the defender. I put a temple in the centre which led to both of us dividing our armies into two parts. The 4 warbands on Sven's right side, including his general, stayed in the woods and didn't make it into close combat.

goblins

At the start of the game, his hero killed my flyer. Then my hero general killed one of his beasts.
His hero killed two of my shooters.
My remaining shooter killed his hero. (Wow!)
Two of my spears killed his other beast.
My hero general killed his behemoth.

wood elves versus goblins

I won the game and we went to a Greek restaurant in Kreuzberg to get drunk. Thanks to everybody involved this was a great gaming weekend.

2013

Last year I played 24 tabletop games, 9 games of 40K, 5 games of Warhammer Fantasy and 10 games of HOTT. Eight of these games were team games.

I played 22 times with Krüger, 8 times with Jörg, twice with Patrick and once with Sven and Andi.

I won 16 games and lost 8 games.

I played Gurps once.

toucan jaguar parrots

This year we want to start a combined Warhammer / HOTT / Gurps campaign. The theme will be tropical islands. Maybe Jörg and Krüger will paint some Amazon Indians, man-eating plants or at least a tapir?

We also want to start playing the 6th edition of 40K.

And I want to play Gurps with my kids.

Happy new year!

Plague Marines versus Space Marines / 40K Battle Report / 5th Edition / 1000 points

The Karubi Islands are a group of tropical islands in the Atlantic Ocean. They are considered to be a micro-continent. They are mostly covered with dense rainforest, habitat of many poisonous animals.

Four islands have been discovered by elven seafarers so far: Nitz Oxib Tsaq, Matzatit Binel Ja, Wazimu and Dox Dox.

I finally decided to get a copy of the current edition of the 40K rules and give them a try. So a month ago we had a farewell game to the 5th edition. (If we don't like the new edition, we will continue playing with the 5th edition, of course.)

I played Plague Marines

Chaos Lord (HQ / 150 points)
mark of nurgle, plaguebringer

9 Nurgle Plague Marines (Troops / 257 points)
2 meltaguns
plague champion with power weapon

Chaos Rhino (45 points)
twin-linked bolter, dozer blade

11 Nurgle Plague Marines (Troops / 323 points)
2 plasma guns
plague champion with power fist

3 Obliterators (Heavy Support / 225 points)

Krüger, my opponent, played Space Marines:

Captain (HQ / 130 points)
boltgun, relic blade

10 Space Marines (Troops / 195 points)
1 meltagun, 1 plasma cannon
sergeant with power weapon

Razorback (75 points)
twin-linked lascannon

10 Space Marines (Troops / 195 points)
1 flamer, 1 missile launcher
sergeant with power fist

Drop Pod (35 points)

5 Terminators (Elite / 230 points)
1 assault cannon
sergeant with power sword

1 Dreadnought (Elite / 105 points)

Drop Pod (35 points)

We have used these two lists in many games.

necrotite mining rig

We diced for mission and deployment and got capture and control and dawn of war. I won the initiative and placed 11 plague marines next to the objective on my right side, a mining rig used for the extraction of green Aluthol crystals. The unit included a champion with a power fist and two plasma guns. Krüger had placed his objective all the way on his right side, a rocket which had crashed head down into the jungle. It was my intention to grab this objective with my chaos lord and a unit of 9 plague marines in a rhino. Krüger put 5 space marines next to the rocket to defend it and placed a razorback on his left side to attack the plague marines next to the mining rig.

Turn 1:

space marines

My rhino moved forward and shot down a space marine with its pintle-mounted twin-linked bolter.

Krüger decided to concentrate his troops on his right side. First a unit of 5 terminators entered on his table edge. Then a large drop pod landed close to my rhino and a dreadnought disembarked. It shot at my rhino and immobilised it.

Turn 2:

razorback

Krüger's dreadnought got stunned as the result of two meltagun shots. I killed two more space marines with the bolters on top of my rhino, causing their unit to flee off the table. (I quite like pintle-mounted twin-linked bolters.) On my right side I shot at Krüger's razorback with 2 plasma guns. I lost a plague marine because a plasma gun got hot. Krüger lost his razorback. Four space marines, a sergeant and the captain had to leave the burning vehicle. That went well.

drop pod

Krüger's second drop pod landed close to my mining rig. Another unit of 9 space marines and a sergeant disembarked. Now 13 space marines, 2 sergeants and the captain shot at the plague marines defending the mining rig. Only one plague marine was killed. (I like the special rules Mark of Nurgle and Feel no Pain.) In close combat the plague champion killed Krüger's captain with his power fist. His unit fled.

Turn 3:

My obliterators arrived and fired 3 plasma cannons at Krüger's large tactical squad, killing 9 space marines. Only the sergeant survived. (I like plasma cannons.) I shot at his other unit of space marines with my plague marines. Same thing. Only a sergeant survived. Krüger's two sergeants are the heroes of this shooting phase, I think. They got into close combat with my plague marines and were killed, though. Sorry, guys!

At this point Krüger didn't have any standard units left. Thus he wasn't able to win the game anymore.

plague marines

On the other side, next to the rocket, Krüger was luckier. First his dreadnought and his terminators shot down a plague marine. Then they killed 3 plague marines and my chaos lord in close combat.

Turn 4:

I lost the unit next to the rocket and Krüger started to run for the mining rig with his dreadnought and his terminators.

Turn 5:

I fired 3 lascannons and a plasma gun at Krüger's dreadnought, destroying his feared close combat weapon.

The terminators attacked my obliterators, while the dreadnought continued to run for the mining rig. I started to get nervous.

Turn 6:

dreadnought

Krüger lost his terminators in close combat. The dreadnought wasn't able to reach the mining rig. The game ended. I won. On my side, 2 obliterators survived and 8 plague marines, including a champion. On Krüger's side, 2 drop pods and a dreadnought. (Ok. Maybe that thing is the real hero of the game.)

It was another relaxed game, lots of fun and undecided till the end. I think I will miss the 5th edition.

Chaos Space Marines and Orks versus Dark Angels

"Wood Elves vs. Orcs & Goblins" is my most popular blog post so far. I hope you like this title as well.

We had another 1500 point 40K game on Tuesday night. Krüger (Orks) and I (CSM) played against Jörg (Dark Angels). It's August 2013 and we still use the 5th edition, I guess you could call this Oldhammer 40K.

I played a chaos lord with a daemon weapon and a unit of 9 plague marines with 2 meltaguns in a rhino, 3 obliterators and a greater daemon.

Krüger brought a warboss, 20 ork boys, 3 killa kans and 10 kommandos.

Jörg started to play 40K half a year ago. He already has 2000 points of Dark Angels. He brought a landraider, 3 units of terminators and 2 tactical squads.

The scenario was capture and control + dawn of war. We placed our objective behind a long fortified wall. Jörg put his objective inside the ruins of a mining rig. Krüger's plan was to defend our objective with his ork boys, my plan was to grab the other objective with a unit of plague marines.

plague marines

After I took the first picture of the game, the batteries of my camera ran out. Grrrrrr!!!

In turn one, Jörg got so excited that he made a roll with his dice cup on top of my rhino. Fortunately the model wasn't damaged.

In turn two, my chaos champion was transformed into a greater daemon and my plague marines destroyed a unit of Dark Angels standing next to the objective in the mining rig. Jörg already wanted to give up, but then his terminators arrived and shot down 16 ork boys. Now Krüger got nervous.

In turn three, Jörg talked about "quadcopters" and "mini drohnen". No clue what he was talking about. My obliterators arrived via deep strike and blasted away 3 terminators with their plasma cannon. The rest of Jörg's terminators attacked the ork boys, killing them all, including the big boss. A killa kan exploded.

In turn four, Krüger's death kopters arrived and shot down Belial (whatever that is). Jörg also lost all 3 terminator units and his second tactical squad. We lost the chaos lord (vengeance!!!) and another killa bot.

In turn five, the greater daemon destroyed Jörg's landraider, his last model on the battlefield. A single plague marine survived standing next to the objective on Jörg's side. We won. I think it was close. The game was exciting until the end.

The problem is, Jörg always buys more terminators after loosing a game and his army already looks quite scary the way it is. How many terminators and landraiders are you allowed to field anyway?

Heavy Metal

killa kans

Saturday night we had a 1500 point Warhammer 40K team game with Patrick (Space Wolves) and Jörg (Dark Angels) on one side and Krüger (Orks) and me (Chaos Space Marines) on the other.

Patrick actually introduced Krüger and me to 40K many years ago. Unfortunately we don't play with him that much any more. He is an amazing painter and always emphasizes the storytelling aspect of the hobby which is great.

We expected Jörg to bring a landraider and a lot of terminators. He didn't.

I made a 790 point army list with the following units: a chaos lord with a daemon weapon and a unit of 9 plague marines with 2 meltaguns in a rhino, 3 obliterators and a greater daemon. (We still use the 5th edition, although I start hearing complaints about it. Sorry, guys.)

Like last time we played, the scenario turned out to be annihilation + pitched battle.

I didn't play well, to be honest. I put my troops all the way on our left flank and they almost didn't make it into play. I nevertheless managed to destroy 2 rhinos and one of Jörg's units, including his HQ.

Krüger lost 2 deffkoptas at the start of the game. His ork boys moved very slowly through a large forest while his killa kans were shot to pieces one by one. Ennervating. I think his kommandos only survived one turn. They got surrounded by Patrick's Space Wolves and were quickly shot down.

Patrick and Jörg opted for a defensive strategy, avoiding close combat and shooting volleys of hunter-killer missiles at us.

Krüger and I made a lot of mistakes, but we won in the end (6 to 5). I don't know why. I guess a bit of luck helps when you play 40K.

Jörg, my neighbour, is a heavy metal fan. He likes to bang his dice cup hard on the table. While Krüger was taking a cigarette break on the balcony, Jörg told us the story about how he lost a shoe at a concert in Wacken, the biggest heavy metal festival of the world. To make him feel at home I put on "Right Next Door To Hell" by Guns N' Roses. (Ok. That's not heavy metal, but it's the closest thing to heavy metal I have.)

You can find a battle report with lots of pictures on Krüger's blog.

Annihilation / Pitched Battle

Sunday afternoon we had another game of 40K with Jörg. Before we started we drank a glass of japanese green tea and ate a couple of delicious cupcakes and cake-pops which Jörg had brought. (Cake-pops are cakes on a stick. The concept was new to me.)

Krüger and I used the same lists as last time. Jörg had replaced his terminators with a unit of veterans and a rhino. His veterans look impressive. They carry a lot of different weapons and equipment. One even has a jump pack, although we weren't sure what for.

We diced for the scenario which turned out to be annihilation and pitched battle. What can I say? My list is either too strong or I was very lucky. In turn 5 Krüger and Jörg gave up. Apart from an immobilized dreadnought, 2 drop pods and a lonely veteran who was running away from my troops (the coward!), they had lost everything, whereas I had only lost my rhino. Krüger and Jörg are gentlemen and didn't complain much. The afternoon ended in a discussion about light bulbs.

Next time we want to introduce Jörg to HOTT, one of my favorite games.

First Game in 2013

dreadnought

Yesterday night Krüger and I introduced Jörg to Warhammer 40K.

Jörg is a neighbor whose two kids go to the same kindergarten as mine. He grew up not far away from Dortmund, where Krüger and I are from, and used to play a lot of role-playing games and Battletech.

Jörg and Krüger played as a team against me. Jörg brought 500 points of Dark Angels which he has recently bought and painted. Krüger brought his Space Marines.

I played 1000 points of Plague Marines. I've been playing this list for about a year.

Chaos Lord (HQ / 150 points)
mark of nurgle, plaguebringer

9 Nurgle Plague Marines (Troops / 257 points)
2 meltaguns
plague champion with power weapon

Chaos Rhino (45 points)
twin-linked bolter, dozer blade

11 Nurgle Plague Marines (Troops / 323 points)
2 plasma guns
plague champion with power fist

3 Obliterators (Heavy Support / 225 points)

My list was quite effective. After explaining the basic rules (5th edition) to Jörg, we started to play around 9pm. We used seize ground as a mission and dawn of war as deployment type. Three hours later I hadn't lost a unit, while the only remaining unit on the other side was Krüger's immobilised dreadnought, whom I consider to be the hero of the game. (Krüger thinks otherwise.)

I feel a bit awkward that this went so well for me and hope Jörg nevertheless had fun playing 40K for the first time.  It would be cool to play with him more often.

2012

If you have been reading this blog you already know that I like numbers. So here we go:

This year I played 26 tabletop games, 9 games of 40K, 9 games of Warhammer Fantasy and 8 games of HOTT. Three of these games were team games.

I played 25 times with Krüger, twice with my cousin Sven and twice with Patrick.

I won 11 games, lost 11 games and 4 games were tied.

Apart from the little accident we had two weeks ago, it was a good gaming year. Let's see what happens in 2013!

3 to 2

chaos rhino

Yesterday night, Krüger and I had a very relaxed game of Warhammer 40K. Before we started, we drank a glass of cidre with my cousin Sven, who dropped in for an hour before leaving for the airport to catch his flight to Munich. He was on a 2-day business trip in Berlin, properly dressed up in a suit. It was good to see him.

Krüger and I played with 1000 points. Plague Marines versus Space Marines. We still use the 5th edition because at the moment I don't have the time to read the new rules. (I also don't have the money to buy more rule books. And it would be cleverer to save money for a new digital camera, I think.) The scenario turned out to be annihilation and spearhead.

I got my first point in turn 2 when my obliterators dropped into the game using their deep strike special rule and destroyed a whole unit of space marines, firing 3 plasma cannons at them. Krüger's captain survived and was able to kill my obliterators in an act of angry vengeance, giving Krüger his first point. In turn 3, one of my two units of plague marines wrecked Krüger's razorback. In turn 4, my other unit destroyed his dreadnought. The score was 3 to 1 by then, so I decided to play safe. I put my chaos lord and his unit back into their rhino and moved it away from enemy fire. The other unit of plague marines was more daring and attacked Krüger's remaining space marines, terminators and the angry captain. My unit was wiped out, but nevertheless I won the game. 3 to 2 for me.

I hope my cousin can bring his chaos space marines and stay a bit longer next time he comes to Berlin.

The Last 3 Years

Three years ago I started to collect data about the tabletop games I play - with whom I played, when, which game, with how many points, who won, who lost, etc. I did this mainly because my cousin Sven often complained about balance problems he experienced while playing games like Warhammer and Warmachine. I think in a good game both sides should have a fair chance. Why should you start playing when it's clear from the beginning that one side will most probably end up winning?

All in all, I have played 57 times since October 13th 2009. Thirty-two of these games were team games involving 3 or more people. I have played Warhammer 40K 39 times, Warhammer Fantasy 11 times and Hordes of the Things 7 times. There are 3 people I mostly play with: Krüger (53 times), Patrick (31 times) and Sven (12 times). Since Sven doesn't live in Berlin anymore, so 4 games a year aren't too bad.

I won 24 times, lost 22 times, the other 11 games were tied. In our gaming group, the games are relatively balanced. That said, at the moment we have some difficulties with Warhammer Fantasy. I only recently started collecting Wood Elves, whereas Krüger, against whom I usally play the game, already has a well organized, strong 2000 point High Elf army. (Why on earth do they "always strike first"?)

Here is the ranking for all 3 games I play. The number in brackets shows how often a player won. I only counted games I was involved in.

40K: Krüger (58%) / Herr Zinnling (55%) / Sven (50%) / Patrick (41%)

Warhammer Fantasy: Patrick (100%) / Krüger (65%) / Herr Zinnling (41%) / Sven (33%)

HOTT: Herr Zinnling (57%) / Krüger (43%)

All of the above games: Krüger (58%) / Herr Zinnling (52%) / Sven (46%) / Patrick (45%)

Krüger is the best player in our group. And Patrick should finally accept the challenge to fight my Wood Elves!
